Today I watched the movie Office Space directed by Mike Judge and starring Ron Livingston. The main character, Peter Gibbons' reason for work is to have something to do. Peter hates his cubicle job so much that when he goes to a hypnotist to help out with his relationship, he talks about his job and gets hypnotized into being relaxed all of the time. My theory is is that he either doesn't have anything else to do, or he just loves to make his boss' live a living hell. This movies was very dumb and confusing in my opinion. I didn't understand why Peter didn't just leave his job for good? Sure, he did for a few days, but then came back and did...well, nothing! I don't find his reason to work one that is useful on an everyday basis, but of course people go to work sometimes just so they can have something else to do with their day. Peter's issue is that he hates his job so much--enough to steal $300,000 from it to be exact--and he still shows up 15 minutes late just like he usually does, everyday.
