In the first 10 minutes of the movie “Office Space” there is a scene where you can see a man, Samir, becoming frustrated with a work printer. He grows angry and he vents to Michael. A woman enters and you can tell the men do not enjoy her company although they are polite. The men are seated close together and continue to talk. The main character enters the scene and gives a drawn out sigh indicating he is fed up with his day at work so far. He invites them to coffee because he is stressed and he also seems very eager to get out of the workplace. The woman from earlier walks by and makes a joke saying, "Looks like someone has the case of the Mondays." Immediately after the camera focuses on the two characters sitting to see their reaction to her joke and gives dives the viewer the idea that she is a dork and her jokes have lost its humor several years before. All of the conversation that takes place during this time is examples of connections being made.
I agree with this scenes reason for work. The work place is one of the most common ways adults are able to make connections with others. When you are in school you are surrounded by people and often times have to speak to them. These essentially the same connections people make while at work. Regardless of if you enjoy every single one or not, connections are inevitable.
