In the book What the Best College Students Do, the author,Ken Bain, tells stories of different people and their experiences in school. While reading, one term that really stood out to me was a "Mindful Brain" (73). A mindful brain looks for new ways of understanding, both the objects of your attention and the way you interact with it. Mindful people get engaged in the subject or topic and want to learn more and reasons why. Above all, they pay consideration on how their minds work, how they comprehend something, and how they may comprehend that in an unexpected way. The reason this stood out to me was becauseI connect with it. I think I have a mindful brain because I always want to know and learn new information and get a deeper meaning of the situation. Finally, being mindful is not only being aware, it is being aware of awareness. It is approaching the present experience with a reflective awareness including the qualities of curiosity, openness, acceptance, and love.
