When I was younger and seeing my sisters go to college I always wanted to be their age so I could go. I always expected it to be fun and when you apply someone would give you a list of all the classes you need to succeed into what major you wanted to go in to. But now that I am here its none of that. I was told in high school the first 2 years of college is basic “general education”. well I am now on year 3 and still haven’t finished this so called general ed. I think general education is important but shouldn’t be the main standard. For me once I got into college I wanted to start my major classes right away because I just finished 12 years of “general education” I didn’t want to do another 2 years of math, history, english and so on. So with that being said, I think college should go along the lines of two ideas, one, make this general education training quickly and efficiently as possible and not spend so much time on that and two, Make sure students are provided with a broad and mastery discipline for their major. But in the end there will never be this perfect way to master college. You will just have to go and take classes as you please and make sure you get to that finish line because in college its just you and the classes. There is no now to hold your hand and walk you through it. College is a one man game.
