The mural “Chicano Pinto Union” illustrates eight specific and many other unidentified figures who helped paved the way for many Chicanos. This mural is very attractive because of all the bright colors that were used which gives it a lot of life and visual appeal. It tells the story of how this culture has grown and how the ancestors have gained their dignity back after years of colonization. Even after years of being conquered, a lot of their history influences our world today. As shown in the background with the Mayan calendar right at the center of Earth and then the placement of the eight figures in the sky which seems as if they've been giving the power of a diety. What I take from this mural is that no matter what occupation a person has had, their legacy and sacrifices live on and influence future generations. The mural also includes a lot of strong symbols for Chicanos of the past and of the present like the United Farm Workers Flag, the clenched fist, etc. There's a lot of hidden symbolism in this mural such as the profile of the Aztec man and woman and the historic Chicano figures representing the past, the crowd of people representing the present working class, and the woman holding her child who represents the future.
